Our six-unit building faced a difficult problem due to insufficient electrical capacity for a typical heat pump installation. Without the heat pump systems, potential customers for this new build project would lack air conditioning and rely on less efficient gas heating.
Given the importance of climate control for comfort and safety during Vancouver’s increasingly warm summers, finding a solution that also complied with rigorous Vancouver municipal electrical standards was imperative.
In collaboration with an electrical engineer and city authorities, we identified exceptionally efficient heat pump models. These were integrated with a custom-designed electrical framework, incorporating a “Power Meister” and strategic electrical interlocks for optimal power utilization. This innovative approach not only conserved energy but also aligned with the City of Vancouver’s electrical regulations. At Western Pacific HVAC, we pride ourselves on resolving complex issues with professional, forward-thinking designs.
